Captain Eric
Capt. Eric, Co-Owner of Maverick Charters
Capt. Eric is co-owner of Maverick Charters and runs the Julia Lynn, a 6 passenger 30′ 1976 Chris Craft designed by Frank Hunt. She is powered by twin Yanmar diesels, with a cruising speed of 22 knots. With a heated cabin, private head and ample seating this makes for a comfortable day on the water.
Captain Eric developed his love of fishing at a young age commercial crabbing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay with his grandfather. He attended the University of North Carolina and earned a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology. After graduating, he traveled to Alaska to spend one summer running a charter boat. That was in 2008. Since then he has worked for local companies and in 2015 started Maverick Charters where he shares his love of fishing with everyone on board. Capt. Eric brings enthusiasm and immense knowledge of the underwater world to every trip.
Captain Billy
Capt. Billy, Co-Owner of Maverick Charters
Capt. Billy is the other half of Maverick Charters and runs the 56’ Ultimate, the largest vessel in our fleet. This big, fast boat has lots of deckspace, 2 private bathrooms and can fish up to 25 anglers. Book a seat or book the whole boat for the “Ultimate” fishing experience.
Captain Billy grew up fishing on the east coast with his father and grandfather, the original “Captain Bill”. With his USCG 100 ton masters license, he has been part of the Homer charter fishing fleet since 2010 and has operated boats all over Alaska. In the fishing off season he is a hunting guide and waterfowl guide here in the state. Capt. Billy and the Ultimate crew pride themselves not only in their local fishing knowledge but also in their top notch customer service.
Captain Daniel
Capt. Daniel
Capt. Daniel is running the Outrageous, a 35’ Bertram, newly repowered in 2019 with 315hp Cummings. This is the biggest 6-pack in our fleet – with a heated cabin, private head and plenty of deck space for everyone to fish.
Known in his family for being super fishy, they say Daniel could catch a fish in a puddle from a young age. He came to Alaska in 2011 and immediately found his calling in the fishing world here. Captain Daniel has trained under some of the best guides Homer has to offer. He learned strategies and tricks from each one to create the best fishing experience around. With extensive knowledge of halibut, rockfish, salmon and lingcod he knows where they will be and how to make them bite. Daniel brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to each one of his fishing trips.
